We have three steps of polishing: coarse, medium, and fine/chrome-liked, using different ceramic balls and compound concentrations.
The process involves three distinct stages to achieve the finest finish.
- Cutting Stage: This is the initial and most aggressive stage. It utilizes the coarsest media and compound to smooth out the wheel’s surface. This stage is crucial for eliminating any major imperfections and preparing the wheel for further refinement.
- Smoothing Stage: Following the cutting stage, this step employs a medium level of abrasiveness. The goal here is to smooth the wheel’s surface further and prepare it for the final polishing stage. This ensures that the surface is even and free from any remaining rough patches.
- Final Polishing Stage: In this third and final stage, ceramic media and a special compound formulation are used to achieve the beloved polished finish. This step provides the high luster and chrome-like surface that is highly sought after.
Additionally, you can set the working time depending on the performance of the rims. Typically, this ranges from 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the rim’s design and surface texture.
To achieve a chrome-like surface, the rim must be completely smooth. The initial coarse or medium steps will help you make it as smooth as needed.
This is only a guideline; the duration of the finishing process may depend on the initial condition of the wheel.
